I then grasp hold of it, control it, Make it mines. I don’t dwell on it (long) as something I must accept, as something that controls me. I Attack it. I control it. View it as my next hurdle. My next personal battle that stands between me and my goals. Use it as fuel for the fire. Turn a negative situation into a position of power.
It’s a constant battle, but an empowering one.
This could be the most profound statement I have read - its application is every aspect of life! I think you have verbalized the mental mindset of people who excel in a sport (or any other area of life) vs. people who are just average.
There are many situations in life that come up where my mindset is to simply survive and get through it however, the mindset I need to adopt is the one you just described. I think I have always known I needed to change it, I just never had success at it for any period of time. I know people who attack goals, events or challenges in their life and as a result are very successful. I have always envied people who were able to do that - you have put it in a way that got through to me exactly how to do that.
It is easy when you're passionate about something - such as training - however it's those areas where the passion doesn't exists yet it is something you have to do to achieve an end result.
I hope that made sense - it was a big breakthrough for me on a mental mindset I need to have in every aspect of life - especially the areas I don't have the passion that I do in other areas (such as training).
Thank you Dr. Phil!!! (I'm adopting that title cause I think it fits!)
